Boc-NH-PEG8-Alkyne, also referred to as t-Boc-N-Amido-PEG8-propargyl, is a PEG derivative with a tert-butoxycarbonyl (Boc) protected amine group (NH-Boc) and an alkyne functional group (propargyl).

The Boc-protected amine group provides a reactive site for further functionalization, which can be selectively deprotected under mild acidic conditions to expose the free amine group for conjugation reactions with carboxylic acids or other activated functional groups. The alkyne functional group enables selective conjugation reactions via copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) or strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) reactions, commonly known as click chemistry. These reactions facilitate the attachment of Boc-NH-PEG8-Alkyne to molecules, surfaces, or nanoparticles bearing azide groups, allowing for precise control over bioconjugation reactions.
