Uses:
Lipoic acid-PEG-Lipoic acid, also known LA-PEG-LA, is a homofunctional PEG linker terminated with two lipoic acid (thioctic acid) units. Lipoic acid, or thioctic acid, is a significant bioactive molecule involved in various biological processes. When functionalized with polyethylene glycol (PEG), lipoic acid can bind to metallic particles or film surfaces through its -S-S- bond.
The lipoic acid group exhibits a high affinity for metallic surfaces, making it widely utilized in binding to surfaces such as gold nanoparticles and quantum dots. PEGylation of lipoic acid enhances its water solubility, enabling direct use in aqueous buffers without the need for additional solubilization steps.
Biopharma PEG offers a wide range of PEG products from lab to commercial scale in both non-GMP and GMP grades. Email at [email protected] and start using a superior product for your next product R&D project.
