4 Arm-PEG-Maleimide (4-Arm PEG-MAL) is a thiol reactive multiarm PEG derivative with maleimide at each terminal of the four arms connected to one pentaerythritol core. Maleimides react with thiols or sulfhydryl-containing molecules at pH 6.5 to 7.5 via Michael addition to form a stable thioether bond. 4-ArmPEG-Mal can be used for site specific protein and peptide modification. It also can be cross-linked into PEG hydrogels.
