DSPE-PEG-Mannose is a well-defined amphiphilic conjugate designed for biomedical applications that require both structural stability and molecular recognition.
It is composed of three key parts: DSPE, a hydrophobic lipid anchor; PEG, a hydrophilic spacer; and mannose, a targeting ligand at the terminal end. This structure allows DSPE-PEG-Mannose to self-assemble in aqueous environments and integrate into lipid membranes while maintaining good dispersibility and stability in biological systems.
As a DSPE-PEG-based material, it combines the membrane-binding ability of DSPE with the solubility and steric protection provided by PEG. The mannose group enables specific recognition of mannose receptors on certain cells, such as dendritic cells and macrophages, making it useful in targeted drug delivery, vaccine design, and biomaterial research. Its simple structure and functional design make it a valuable building block for applications that require both biocompatibility and active targeting.
